Gale Wilcox
Co-Founder/Secretary
Ms. Wilcox is a champion for individuals with developmental disabilities and has been a passionate advocate ever since her great niece Anastasia, who has Down syndrome, was born 13 years ago. Gale is a co-founder of Mi Work Matters and serves on the Board of Directors.
She is an accomplished fundraiser with a specific focus on program development that helps young adults with cognitive impairments find paying work. Gale is passionate about finding ways to overcome obstacles to employment, such as transportation, resume development and interview skills. Her goal is to enable those with different abilities with strategies needed to fulfill their employment goals.
Prior to co-founding Mi Work Matters she has served in numerous capacities with the Down Syndrome Guild of Southeast Michigan; including Vice President and fundraising chairperson. It was while serving on the employment development committee with the DSGSEMI that she realized just how great the need is for a focused effort on employment for people with developmental disabilities.
Gale has recently retired from Sprint after 15 years and enjoys spending time with her grandchildren, husband and newly adopted dog, Nala.
